ARB Street racing was founded in May 2002 by Tim Street and Austin Baker.  Austin runs a top Car Spares business just outside West Huntspill and is always only to happy to give a price on parts for that special car.  In 2004 Shaun Baker started driving watch this site to find out more about where the Rebel Racers are this week!   2008 saw the part time driver Steve take to the field... we expect to see a lot more of this motor racing fanatic.

** LATEST NEWS ** August 2008

September 2008

One of the most expensive purchases ever for the team.  A Peugeot 205 Class 6 Autograsser.  Mi16 engine with webber 40's.  Car was hawled back from Trowbridge and is under preparation for the 2009 season.

August 2008 update

Finals 4th in the Grand Prix class 3!  A great weekends racing.  Only touched a couple of spanners excellent preparation, fantastic teamwork.  (Quote Tim: Things can't really get any better the car was right on the verge most of the time).

Shaun... 270 Banger Stox - should have checked the oil.  Engine failure on the first lap.  He lives to race another day.

24/25th August up and coming event.

The Rebel Racers will be racing Bank Holiday Sunday Monday at 2 locations.  Oaktree Arena... Super AutoGrass the Renault 5 2.2 Pinto with all the mod cons and at Smeatharpe in the Banger Stox.  Shaun's stock rod is nearing completion as is his super Fiesta for Hill Climbs!  Pictures on this site soon...

26th June 2008

Steve's Stock Rod has been off to the rolling road and there's plenty of room for improvement.

Shaun has been out to play with the Bangerstox people, he's totaled one car and will return shortly in an Escort.  His spraying has improved, some of the cars are looking pretty good (until the 1st lap!)

Tim's not pressed pedal to the metal this year, his Renault 5 will be making it's debut at the Oaktree arena grass track in August.  Engine modifications were going well, it's a shame that you can't physically fit a Pinto and it's 40's under the small bonnet... maybe next year a car with a larger engine compartment or a rear engine build will be required.

24th March

Shaun will debut at Smeatharpe... Bangerstox against 80+ other drivers.

20th March

Team sponsorship deal secured with ISF coatings. The perfect Finish since 1898.

2nd March

Shaun and Tim debut at Mendips Raceway... Tim got the track to himself for 20 laps.   Hit the wall in the final session no damage to car ego damage to Tim

2008

Well the team has moved on from racing at the Somerset Rebels Banger Racing club.  We're competing where ever and when ever there's something slightly different offered

270 - Shaun is to debut in BangerStox at Smeatharpe and Shipham.  As this formula is almost exactly the same as the Rebels Production Hot Rods then he should do pretty well we'll put up more about that later.  Also we don't know if his number will stay the same.

70 - Tim has finished on grass for good this time... ;-) ... well you never know.  He's busy constructing a saloon stock and quite fancies Stock Rods.  He's not expecting to do much at all in 2008 as it's about time he spent more time with the family.

170 - Austin a big personality in a tiny 3 wheeled car watch out for him at Shipham in one of his 3 Reliant Robins... we expect a lot of action from him and for the cars to end up in many pieces!

Shaun Baker (270)

It seems like a long time ago when we set about stripping the first car in preparation for our Sunday racing.  Having now attended several meetings the performance of the cars and the driver has significantly improved.  Not that we'd ever knock a make of car but that first Fiat didn't really have what was needed!

Cars that have also had the "treatment":

CAVALIER, FIESTA, another CAVALIER 1.8i, Astras, Escorts, Mark 1 Cavalier Sports Hatch, Opel Mantas and Maestros!

Austin and Shaun both race Escorts... Tim doesn't really like Vauxhalls but that Mark 3 2.0i lump has what it takes to win races and that's good enough reason for me!

8th June 2003 a very muddy day - 3 heat wins!!!
